Compassionate Leave Policy
This policy can be used to inform employees about their employment rights relating to compassionate leave.
Employees are entitled to compassionate leave to deal with an emergency that involves a dependant (a dependant could include a parent, partner, children, grandchildren or someone who depends on the employee for care).
The employer has no right to penalize the employee on account of reasonable compassionate leave. Any employee can take compassionate leave and this right does not depend on their length of service.
This policy is flexible, applies to all level of employees, and follows the practices recommended by the ACAS.
